SoundHound AI announced the layoff of about 27% of its global workforce as part of a restructuring plan intended to ensure long-term profitability. The Nasdaq-listed company, which trades under the ticker SOUN, expects pre-tax restructuring charges of between $18 million and $22 million, covering severance and business wind-downs. SoundHoundAI is also targeting $120 million in annualized cost synergies from the acquisition of LivePerson and more than $80 million in cost actions before January 1, 2027. Management wants to accelerate the integration of LivePerson, shift more heavily toward a hosted-service revenue model and exit non-core business lines. The company had approximately 953 employees as of March 2026, before the LivePerson integration, and projects sustained adjusted EBITDA profitability in the second half of 2027.
