The European Chips Design Platform, known as EuroCDP, plans to mobilize €525 million between 2025 and 2028 to support startups and small and mid-sized companies that design semiconductors without owning factories. Coordinated by the Belgian research hub imec with 12 European partners, it will provide design software, reusable component libraries, and access to pilot lines for fabrication and testing. Approximately €220 million will be allocated to startup support, with 35% provided by the EU, 35% by national governments, and 30% funded by companies or venture capital firms. Synopsys will make its artificial intelligence and high-performance computing design software available through the platform starting on November 4, 2026. The initiative seeks to reduce the funding gap facing European chip startups and help the EU double its share of the global semiconductor market to 20% by 2030.
