The French Blood Establishment confirmed that three of its sites were affected by the recent wave of cyberattacks targeting refrigeration systems across Europe. Although the organization was not the direct target, hackers manipulated temperature and defrost thresholds in cold storage units holding blood products, samples intended for biobanks, and frozen plasma. Rapid alerts allowed the equipment to be brought under control or taken offline, with no blood or samples lost after products were quickly transferred to other facilities. The EFS is now working with the French National Cybersecurity Agency and the Ministry of Health, while the situation has been declared under control. The same wave also disrupted supermarkets in France, Belgium, Sweden, and Finland, causing food losses potentially worth several million euros.
