A man shot at several masked assailants who attempted twice to break into his home in La Roche-sur-Yon on October 31, 2026. The attackers fled and abandoned a stolen vehicle nearby, before police arrested the victim and placed him in police custody for 48 hours. The prosecutor opened an investigation for attempted murder, before the allegations were reclassified as aggravated violence and illegal possession of a weapon and ammunition. The man was placed in pretrial detention and is scheduled to appear before the La Roche-sur-Yon criminal court on November 4. The case comes amid a rise in attacks targeting cryptocurrency holders in France.
