Apple updates insider trading policy to ban prediction market trading

Share

Apple now prohibits employees and contractors from using confidential company information to trade on prediction markets or event contracts. The measure, set out in the company’s fiscal 2026 Form 10-K filed with the SEC on November 3, 2026, covers approximately 167,000 employees and independent contractors. It also applies to former employees as long as the relevant information remains nonpublic and extends to nonpublic information about Apple’s suppliers and customers. Violators may be terminated and could be required to repay equity awards, which often make up a significant portion of employee compensation. Apple states that the restriction applies regardless of whether the activity qualifies as insider trading or securities trading under the law.
