Crédit Mutuel Arkéa: French bank targeted in $133 million crypto fraud?

Share

According to on-chain investigator ZachXBT, Crédit Mutuel Arkéa may have been targeted in a fraud worth at least $133 million, with the funds allegedly siphoned in fiat currency before being converted into cryptocurrencies. The investigator initially identified more than $106 million in suspicious stablecoin withdrawals, followed by $27 million in additional withdrawals, while excluding OTC transactions from the estimate. Bitquery reports that $62.98 million in stablecoins was converted into 27,553 ETH within four hours through UniswapX, before transfers from Kraken, Crypto.com and OKX. Kraken and Crypto.com blocked the related accounts or funds, while ZachXBT believes the attacker is unaffiliated with the North Korean Lazarus Group. Crédit Mutuel Arkéa has neither confirmed the incident nor provided a definitive loss figure.
