The National Assembly adopted an amendment by Charles de Courson on 3 November requiring the tax declaration of self-custodied crypto wallets whose combined value reaches at least €100,000 on 31 December. The proposal covers hardware wallets from Ledger and Trezor as well as software wallets such as MetaMask, Rabby Wallet and Phantom, with penalties of up to €10,000 for failure to report. A proposal by Nicolas Sansu to lower the threshold to €5,000 was rejected the same evening. The amendment still needs to be incorporated into the state budget and reviewed by the Senate and the joint parliamentary committee, while the exact information to be reported remains unclear.
