Binance says the $6.34 billion theft began with a five-month campaign combining a manipulated developer tool, a fake recruitment process and malicious software. On October 29, the attackers transferred 233.46 million XRP, about 970,500 SOL, 44.2 million OP, 18,270 BTC and 2,961.9 ETH before Binance blocked the unauthorized movements. The exchange says it froze or intercepted about $2.85 billion of stolen assets and replenished 98% of affected tokens with its own funds. The FBI attributed the attack to North Korea, a claim Pyongyang rejected. After withdrawals reopened, customers withdrew $10.97 billion in 46 hours before deposits once again exceeded withdrawals.
