Mistral Large 4 reportedly built a 3D satellite tracker, but the trail goes cold

A post on X attributes the creation of Orbital Trace to Mistral Large 4, an application described as a real-time 3D tracker for active satellites and orbital debris. No application under that name, code repository or statement from Mistral AI has confirmed the project’s existence. The multimodal model has approximately 1 trillion parameters, including 52 billion active parameters, entered public preview on October 6, 2026, and had its weights posted on Hugging Face by October 29. Mistral AI has nevertheless deployed Ministral models on satellites and is involved in a $1 billion project centered on a 50-satellite constellation. Without verifiable evidence, Mistral Large 4’s capabilities alone do not establish that it actually built Orbital Trace.
