RUNE sees major sell-offs after FBI’s demand to block Binance hacker transactions sparks debate

Share

The FBI asked THORChain node operators, instant exchanges, DeFi companies and blockchain analytics firms to block transactions associated with the addresses linked to the Binance hacker. RUNE lost 17.7% of its value in 24 hours, while short-selling increased, open interest rose and funding rates declined. On October 31, THORChain halted trading on several chains after an Ethereum block reorganization caused the protocol to pay out 10 ETH from a vault that had never received the funds. The suspension delayed the movement of 85% of the $1.2 billion stolen in the Bybit hack into bitcoin and generated $12 million in fees for network participants. After falling below $0.60, RUNE faces renewed bearish pressure that could push it toward the $0.41 to $0.50 demand zone.
