XRP Ledger developers are proposing four fixes, grouped under the fixCleanup3_5_0 amendment, to strengthen approval checks for tokens whose issuance is restricted. The changes target liquidity pool shares, preventing unauthorized accounts from indirectly acquiring restricted assets, as well as trust lines that already hold token balances. As a general rule, an unapproved holder would only be able to return the affected tokens to the issuer, which could then approve the holder’s trust line. The XRP Ledger Foundation describes the work as routine protocol hardening and says it is aware of no known outsider exploitation of the remaining exceptions. As of October 30, the fixes had neither been merged into the main software nor activated on the network, and activation required sustained validator support for two consecutive weeks.
