Moving $200 through stablecoins can cost around 60 cents, or nearly $18, depending on the route. This is what a Bank of Italy experiment involving ten international payment routes found. Buying and cashing out the tokens accounted for most of the expense, while moving them on the blockchain represented only a small share.
