Alphabet announced Gemini 4 Carbon on October 28, 2026, as a frontier model designed for cybersecurity tasks ranging from vulnerability detection to exploitation and patching, while the US government is reportedly testing it. The model achieved an 88.2% success rate on SEC-bench Pro, 54.8% on ExploitGym and 71.0% on Collinear’s CWE-bench; prompt-injection attacks recorded a 0.0% success rate on Gray Swan. Alphabet shares rose about 1.5% after the announcement as Carbon entered direct competition with OpenAI and Anthropic in code generation and cyber defense.
