Google says visual searches now top 50 billion a month

Google says its visual searches have passed 50 billion monthly queries, a figure it shared on X. Google Lens recorded 3 billion searches per month in 2021 and 12 billion in 2023, while projections put its monthly visual searches above 20 billion in 2025 and 2026. The growth accompanies Google’s AI push: Google AI Mode, which includes visual search, reportedly surpassed one billion monthly active users in its first year and allows users to combine images, video, voice and context. About 20% of visual searches originating from Lens show purchase intent, creating an advertising opportunity for Google, which draws partly on a database of more than 50 billion listings called Shopping Graph.
