Why Bitcoin Is Struggling to Break Above $85,000: Glassnode Has the Answer

Share

According to Glassnode, roughly 4 million BTC held for more than 155 days were purchased between $85,000 and $118,000, mainly in 2025. Every return in price toward $85,000 could therefore encourage these holders to break even by selling, creating selling pressure and turning the former $84,000 to $85,000 support zone into resistance. Most BTC held for less than 155 days, however, was purchased below the current price, with the largest concentration of purchases around $77,000 and a second cluster near $64,000. Despite this pressure, wallets holding between 100 and 1,000 BTC continued accumulating, while those holding 10 to 100 BTC and more than 10,000 BTC slowed their purchases. Glassnode says a series of daily closes above $85,000 would signal a bullish reversal, whereas another decline could pull the price down to $75,800.
