XRP Ledger developers are testing the SponsoredAccountCreate proposal, submitted on October 15, 2026, which would allow a third party to cover the mandatory 1 XRP reserve so that an account could be created with a zero balance. The account holder would retain control of the keys, while the sponsor would assume the reserve obligation, potentially easing embedded application wallets, RLUSD distribution and automated transactions by AI agents. The proposal is not yet live because it depends on the SponsorV1_1 amendment, which has secured only 10 to 11 votes out of 35 validators, well short of the 29 required for activation on the main network. Ripple also announced a partnership with Privy, owned by Stripe, in mid-October 2026 to support programmable wallets integrated with the XRP Ledger.
