On October 28, 2026, pseudonymous developer 0xBeans proposed splitting a tokenized stock on Robinhood Chain into two tradable tokens: OVERNIGHT, which captures moves from the close to the next open, and SESSION, which tracks moves during regular trading hours. Each token could be traded independently and then recombined with its counterpart to redeem the original tokenized share. The concept is based on SPY’s historical returns: 13.5% overnight and 0.7% intraday over the past year, compared with 1,105% and 27%, respectively, since 1993. The structure could enable arbitrage strategies between the two components, but it remains a proposal without live tokens or contracts and would need to address the reference prices used to determine payouts.
