Lightning Labs detailed how Wavelength virtual transaction outputs can hold Taproot Assets by linking each asset’s off-chain history to an on-chain commitment through compact proofs and client-side validation. Wavelength, live on Bitcoin mainnet since October 23, 2026, is a toolkit and SDK for self-custodial Bitcoin payments built around Ark-style transaction batching. During its initial phase, each account is capped at 300,000 sats, each VTXO at 50,000 sats, and each Lightning payment carries a 0.25% fee. The integration is intended to extend Bitcoin payments to stablecoins, whose launch is planned, without requiring users to surrender custody of their assets. Recent Taproot Assets releases also fixed certification issues, underscoring the need to keep validation software updated.
