Share

All 16 economists and analysts surveyed by CNBC expect the Bank of Japan to keep its policy rate at 1.25% after Friday’s meeting, following last month’s increase to its highest level in 31 years. All expect the central bank to prepare for another hike in December or January as domestic inflation and wages continue to rise. Core inflation increased 2.1% year over year in September, while inflation-adjusted wages grew for the eighth consecutive month in August. Nine respondents expect the yield on 10-year Japanese government bonds to reach between 3% and 3.1% by year-end, while 13 see the terminal rate at 1.75% to 2% around mid-2027.
