Ducat brings its UNIT stablecoin to Cashu ecash as Turbo UNIT

Share

Ducat announced the launch of Turbo UNIT on October 24, 2026, an electronic version of its Bitcoin-backed stablecoin within the Cashu protocol. Users deposit their UNIT into Ducat’s Cashu mint and can then transfer them peer-to-peer by message or QR code, without an on-chain transaction or its usual fee for each payment. Cashu uses blind signatures to prevent the mint from linking payments to their senders or recipients, while the collateral and issuance of UNIT remain secured on Bitcoin. UNIT is an overcollateralized stablecoin with a soft peg to the US dollar, requiring a minimum 160% collateral ratio and triggering liquidation when that ratio falls to 135%. Since its closed alpha launch in 2026, Ducat has processed more than four million transactions, vaulted over $700 million in Bitcoin and issued more than $300 million in UNIT.
