Meta has acquired Sundial, an AI-powered data analytics platform founded in 2021 by Chandra Narayanan and Julie Zhuo, two former Meta executives. The startup provides self-service analytics tools that combine artificial intelligence, contextual data and expert playbooks, and counts OpenAI among its clients. It raised $23 million in total funding, including a $16 million Series A led by GPV in July 2025, with Sequoia Capital also backing the company. Sundial will not remain a standalone product line and will be absorbed into a new Meta data analytics organization led by Alex Schultz. The deal is primarily intended to strengthen Meta’s internal decision-making, while the future of Sundial’s existing customer relationships remains unclear.
