Capital Group is once again the largest shareholder of Metaplanet, the Tokyo-listed company that abandoned its hotel operations to become a Bitcoin treasury. The US asset manager holds 143,301,084 shares, or 11.11% of the company’s voting rights, after buying approximately 17.8 million additional shares and moving back above the 10% threshold. The position was disclosed to the Kanto Local Finance Bureau on October 23, 2026, and reflects holdings as of October 16, 2026. Crossing that threshold subjects Capital Group to additional disclosure obligations, while its share-lending arrangements with JPMorgan and Fidelity show that the stake is actively managed. Share dilution from new equity issuance and Metaplanet’s share buybacks explain why Capital Group holds more shares without necessarily owning a higher percentage of the company than before.
