Monero (XMR) surged 11.48% in 24 hours, reaching $645.02 on Thursday morning, its highest level since January, before retreating to around $607 on Friday. Perpetual contracts helped fuel the move, with the funding rate weighted by open interest rising from 0.0022% to 0.0480% in a single day. Meanwhile, ether, XRP and dogecoin fell between 4% and 4.7% amid a risk-off environment driven by a Nasdaq decline, rising oil prices and tensions with Iran. More than $450 million in positions were liquidated, while Monero still needs to gain about 32% to reclaim its January record of nearly $799.
