The Zcash Foundation said it had merged fixes for Zebra nodes that stopped syncing near the chain tip after version 7.0.0-rc.0. The changes adjust how Zebra requests blocks from peers and handles failed downloads. As of October 21, the fixes were merged into the development branch but had not yet been included in a published release, with stable version 7.0.0 identified as the likely next NU7 release. Operators still need to deploy that release and confirm that their nodes are synchronized and continuing to follow the network. The foundation also reiterated that the Zebra 6.4.x series was designed to stop operating around November 2, making the upgrade to NU7 necessary for affected mainnet users.
