Nectar Group, the company behind Bitcoin yield platform HoneyB, has closed a $5 million seed round, valuing the startup at $30 million post-money. The platform targets institutions holding Bitcoin by enabling them to earn yield without wrapping, bridging, or surrendering custody of their assets. The mechanism relies on a carry trade where institutions post BTC as collateral and borrow stablecoins, which are then invested in tokenized real-world asset strategies generating around 12% gross annualized returns. HoneyB is currently in pre-launch phase with no active token or TVL data, and has partnered with AlphaLedger, Simplify, Arch Network and Chintai for infrastructure and compliance.
