Celestia activates Fibre, enabling direct validator uploads for rollups

Share

Celestia activated Fibre on its mainnet on approximately October 20, 2026, after validators crossed the required 83.33% voting power threshold. This new parallel data availability lane enables rollups to send large blobs directly to validators, bypassing the standard L1 data square. A single Fibre blob can reach up to 128 MiB, which is 16 times larger than the standard 8 MiB L1 ceiling, with a minimum size of 256 KiB per blob. The October 2026 benchmark showed Fibre sustaining 3.07 Tb/s of throughput across 120 validators. Celestia’s native token TIA handles staking, escrow deposits, and fee payments for Fibre usage.
