Mastercard has launched Stablecoin Security, a risk-scoring tool designed to help financial institutions examine stablecoin payments before and during their movement across blockchains. The service works through an API and assesses fraud, sanctions and scam risks by combining traditional payment intelligence with blockchain data. Initial partners are Borderless.xyz and Keyrails. According to Mastercard, nearly 60% of stablecoin transfers involve complex multi-step routes rather than simple one-to-one transfers. The product will initially launch in North America with wider commercial availability expected in 2027.
