On October 20, 2026, a Lido engineer raised concerns about a potential deposit hijacking risk during Ethereum’s transition to the Glamsterdam hard fork. Dima Gusakov, Head of Engineering at Lido Finance, warned that a malicious node operator could submit a builder deposit using the 0xB0 prefix to intercept ETH intended for a validator through shared deposit queues. GitHub issue #5735, which proposed pre-deposit checks as a fix, was closed as “not planned,” shifting the responsibility for defenses to staking protocols themselves. The Hoodi testnet activation is scheduled for October 26, 2026, with mainnet launch targeted for Q4 2026. Lido already operates a Deposit Security Module and guardian committee to oversee deposits.
