China’s CXMT sees shares drop over 6% as investors look past chipmaker’s profit turnaround

ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT) shares fell 6.5% Monday despite a major financial turnaround announced by the company. CXMT forecasts net profit of 131 to 132.5 billion yuan for the first nine months of 2026, reversing a net loss of 5.28 billion yuan a year earlier. Revenue is estimated between 265 and 270 billion yuan. This improvement is attributed to growing demand for AI computing power since the second half of 2025, which has boosted the global DRAM market, creating supply shortages and significant price increases. CXMT captured 10% of global DRAM revenue in the third quarter of 2026, up from 5% a year earlier, positioning itself among major players alongside Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix and Micron Technology.
