Morgan Stanley projects global AI compute investment will reach approximately $1.58 trillion in 2027, rising from $980 billion in 2026 to $1.81 trillion in 2028. This spending is expected to account for roughly 5% of S&P 500 sales and nearly 25% of the index’s sales growth. Half of the projected investment is expected to be debt-financed, with lease commitments reaching approximately $195 billion in 2027. NVIDIA is forecast to capture around two-thirds of AI-related inflows, amounting to nearly $690 billion, while AI enablers and adopters together will represent about 78% of S&P 500 earnings growth in 2027.
