Riot Platforms has signed a custody agreement with BitGo Bank & Trust to transfer its digital assets currently held at NYDIG Trust Company LLC. The transfer is scheduled for September 2026, the same month Riot repaid a 200 million dollar credit facility with Coinbase, releasing Bitcoin collateral. In August 2026, BitGo Holdings acquired NYDIG’s institutional trading business for approximately 42.5 million dollars, just weeks before the announcement of this custodian change. Riot had been using NYDIG since November 2023 for segregated cold storage of its Bitcoin holdings. The company has not disclosed the amount of assets transferred or the specific terms of the agreement, but consolidating with a federally chartered depositary simplifies the management and reporting of its reserves.
