Bitquery identified 4,497,798 Solana wallets targeted over 11 months using an address-poisoning technique. One documented case shows a wallet first sent $10 in USDT to its legitimate Gate.io deposit address, received dust from a lookalike 12 seconds later, and then sent $30,749.80 in USDT to that same fake address. On a subset of approximately 3 million poisoned wallets, 1,104 made payments totaling $940,106. This technique exploits the fact that users sometimes copy addresses from their transaction history rather than entering them manually.
