Broadcom CEO Hock Tan says many AI investors act like gamblers

Broadcom CEO Hock Tan said many AI investors are behaving like gamblers at a conference held on October 12, 2026. He forecasts the company’s AI semiconductor revenues will reach 58 billion dollars in fiscal year 2026, then 115 billion in 2027 and 230 billion in 2028. Access to capital may become the primary constraint on AI infrastructure expansion, overtaking chip supply and power availability concerns. Nearly all of Broadcom’s AI revenue comes from six major customers, including Google, OpenAI and Anthropic, whose buildout is supported by financing arrangements with Apollo and Blackstone. Tan differentiates himself from other industry leaders expressing caution about AI development pace, betting on strong demand while flagging financing as the real risk.
