Amazon Web Services announced on October 2, 2026, that it will stop signing nondisclosure agreements with government agencies for its data center projects. This decision follows a similar commitment made by Microsoft in March 2026. AWS also launched the Built Together program, endowed with over one billion dollars over five years for community projects in regions hosting its data centers. The announcement came two days after Representative Jamie Raskin launched a congressional inquiry aimed at clarifying confidentiality practices among major technology companies. More than 100 data center moratoriums are currently under consideration across the United States, and Google, which was also named in the inquiry, remains under pressure to explain its own practices.
