Yandex shuts down Vladimir data centre after drone attack, third facility hit in four days

Yandex completely shut down its Vladimir region data centre in Russia following a drone attack that took place on October 10-11, 2026. The facility, with a capacity of 50 megawatts and space for up to 2,880 server racks, sustained significant infrastructure damage and a fire broke out. No injuries were reported, but the downstream impact was substantial: over 80 cloud and consumer services were disrupted, including YandexGPT, Yandex Music and Yandex Go. This strike marks the third Yandex facility hit in four days, following attacks on Sasovo on October 8 and Kaluga on October 9. Yandex shares fell nearly 4% on the Moscow Exchange as investors began pricing in geopolitical risk targeting digital infrastructure.
