Hurricane Isaias made landfall early Saturday, killing four people and leaving approximately 670,000 residents in Florida, Alabama, Georgia and Mississippi without power. The storm, classified as a Category 2 when it hit Florida’s coast and the first of the 2026 Atlantic season, has weakened to a post-tropical cyclone. Two deaths resulted from trees falling on homes. Power restoration is underway with about 16,000 utility linemen prepared to respond. In the Gulf of Mexico, about 69% of oil output and 57% of natural gas production remained shut as producers began redeploying personnel.
