One year after 10/10, Bitcoin and Ether liquidity is back while altcoins lag

One year after the crypto market crash of October 10, 2025, during which more than $19 billion in leveraged positions were wiped out within 24 hours, Bitcoin and Ether have largely rebuilt their liquidity thanks to ETF flows and institutional buying. US spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $102.7 million in inflows in a single day in October 2026, with Bitcoin trading between $80,000 and $87,000 by early October 2026. Altcoin open interest fell from $70 billion to $30 billion between pre-crash levels and December 2025, and the median altcoin rally duration shrank from 60 days in 2024 to approximately 19-20 days in 2025, illustrating a market now running at two speeds.
