Dogecoin prepares for upgrade with DogeOS testnet launch

Share

The MyDoge wallet team launched a public testnet called Chikyū on September 30, 2026, with chain ID 6281971. DogeOS is an EVM-compatible zero-knowledge rollup enabling smart contract development on Dogecoin. The platform targets roughly 300 transactions per second, a tenfold throughput increase over Dogecoin’s base layer, with block times of about 3 seconds. DogeOS raised $6.9 million in a seed round led by Polychain Capital in May 2025. The OP_CHECKZKP proposal, which would allow Dogecoin to natively verify zero-knowledge proofs, was submitted on July 22, 2025 but remains unimplemented, and no mainnet launch date has been announced.
