Ethereum’s Sepolia test network activated the Glamsterdam upgrade on October 6, raising the block gas limit to nearly 200 million, more than three times the 60 million allowed on the main network. A review of 25 consecutive blocks shows actual usage between 24% and 43% of this new limit, leaving substantial headroom in case of high demand. This change aims to reduce transaction fees during periods of congestion, but larger blocks put more strain on validators. No mainnet upgrade is scheduled at this time, with the main network’s limit remaining at 60 million gas.
