USDT’s share of stablecoin payments in Asia-Pacific dropped from 98% in early 2025 to 91% by July 2026, according to a CoinDesk Research report commissioned by Ripple. The Asia-Pacific region accounts for 51.2% of global identified stablecoin payment volume, totaling $30.9 billion across 426 corridors in 28 countries. This decline reflects a shift toward compliance-focused stablecoins like Ripple’s RLUSD, which received regulatory approval in Japan and is distributed through SBI VC Trade. Business-to-business transactions comprised 37.1% of the region’s stablecoin payment volume in the first half of 2026.
