John Felton, CFO of Amazon Web Services, says AI adoption remains early stage across most companies. AWS is now a $169 billion annualized business. AWS pricing team converted a complex 18-tab Excel model used to evaluate customer deals into a chatbot interface allowing users to explore scenarios through natural language questions. Another team built an AI agent to compare payment terms in customer contracts with those recorded in AWS’s payment system, enabling the team to check all contracts instead of just a sample. Felton encourages all employees to use AI every day, not just to speed up existing work but to expand what the organization can accomplish.
