Andreessen Horowitz released the seventh edition of its Top 100 Consumer AI Apps ranking, for the first time including US consumer credit-card spending data. Only 4.5% of US consumers pay for any AI subscription, with the top 1% of spenders averaging about $903 per month versus $25 for the median paying user. ChatGPT still dominates the ranking with roughly three times as many paid subscribers as Gemini or Claude, while Claude has overtaken Gemini in US paid subscribers. The edition features only 11 new products in the combined web and mobile lists, the lowest number ever recorded, though spending data reveals 29 products generating meaningful revenue that do not appear in traffic rankings. OpenAI’s advertising business has reached a $1 billion annualized run rate, primarily driven by shopping and travel queries.
