Meta has reportedly fired the AI safety specialists hired from Virtue AI in June 2026, according to an unconfirmed post on X. The team included all three co-founders of Virtue AI: Bo Li, Dawn Song, and Sanmi Koyejo, who were integrated into Meta Superintelligence Labs. Virtue AI, a startup founded in 2024 that raised $30 million and counted Uber and Glean among its clients, was acquired by Fortinet on August 17, 2026. This report comes amid significant restructuring at Meta, which had already cut approximately 8,000 jobs in May, representing 10% of its workforce. Without official confirmation, the future of these AI safety experts at Meta remains uncertain.
