MetaMask is withdrawing its Ethereum validators from the Lido staking protocol as a precaution following a security incident affecting part of its infrastructure. The platform reports identifying no immediate threat to MetaMask wallets. Approximately 17,000 validators holding about 523,000 ETH, worth roughly $1.4 billion, are being exited. Return of staked ETH could take up to 45 days due to Ethereum’s entry queue. Lido stated that no action is required from stETH holders, and independent analysis suggests roughly 0.36 ETH was lost through redirected fee payments, with a full investigation ongoing.
