Asia is ahead of the rest of the world in tokenized finance adoption, with South Korea, Japan, Singapore, and Hong Kong roughly two to three years ahead of other regional markets, according to Chetan Karkhanis, Franklin Templeton’s senior digital assets executive. The asset manager launched Hong Kong’s first tokenized money market fund in November 2025, followed by a partnership with DBS Bank for a similar product in Singapore targeting Q1 2026, and a regional expansion with DigiFT in May 2026. The total volume of tokenized real-world assets on public blockchains grew from approximately $5.5 billion in 2021 to $18.6 billion by 2025, representing a 3.4x increase. Franklin Templeton focuses on products accessible to institutional and retail investors, such as tokenized Treasuries and money market funds, rather than complex DeFi applications.
