Nearly 5,000 BTC have left Bitget’s tracked reserves after the exchange resumed withdrawals following its $387.5 million hack, the largest security incident in its eight-year history. The exchange processed 9,585 withdrawal orders totaling 4,098 BTC, while DeFiLlama data showed Bitget’s tracked Bitcoin balance falling by approximately 4,642 BTC. CEO Gracy Chen said attackers exploited vulnerabilities in third-party products to obtain internal credentials, adding that customer funds would be fully reimbursed through the Protection Fund. Stolen assets are now fragmented across multiple chains, cross-chain protocols and privacy services, with roughly 101.5 BTC ($8.5 million) already routed through THORChain, fueling a debate over the platform’s role in combating illicit fund flows.
