Senator Elizabeth Warren and two other Senate Democrats sent letters to the CEOs of Meta, Google (Alphabet), Amazon and Microsoft seeking information about tax deductions they’ve claimed related to AI and data center development and their lobbying efforts surrounding the 2025 tax package. Corporate tax payments are down 25 percent this year, according to the letter. Meta paid $2.8 billion in federal income tax in 2025, down from $9.6 billion in 2024, while its capital expenditures amounted to $72 billion last year, much of which was deductible under the corporate tax breaks in the one big beautiful bill act. The four companies each contributed $1 million to Trump’s inauguration, and the lawmakers requested answers by October 12.
