Tezos has launched Quantumnet, an experimental test network aimed at developing cryptography resilient against quantum computers. This network is not the final post-quantum version of Tezos nor ready for production use; it serves solely to identify problems, measure performance, and refine the technology before a potential protocol amendment proposal. Quantumnet notably uses the ML-DSA-44 mechanism for tz5 account signatures, the Smooth Weighted Round Robin protocol for baker selection, as well as tests for post-quantum signature aggregation for consensus and the ZODA protocol for data availability. Meanwhile, Ethereum plans to make its L1 layer resilient to quantum attacks by the end of 2029.
