Ondo Finance is expanding its USDY tokenized yield product across more Solana DeFi protocols. Unlike traditional stablecoins, USDY is a tokenized note backed by short-term US Treasuries and bank deposits that accrues yield over time and can be used as productive collateral in lending and liquidity protocols. Solana was chosen for its fast settlement and low transaction costs, which facilitate institutional-style assets circulating through DeFi workflows. Ondo’s goal is to make tokenized real-world assets fully usable in decentralized finance rather than leaving them as passive holdings. The key challenge remains maintaining sufficient liquidity during redemptions and market stress periods.
