X is rolling out X Numbers, optional private codes that allow users to receive messages and calls without mutual connections on the social network. These identifiers complement X Chat, the encrypted messaging service that works without a phone number. X Payments LLC is simultaneously accumulating money transmitter licenses state by state in the United States to prepare for X Money. The platform claims 600 million monthly users, and its integration with payments will depend more on US regulators than on technical capabilities. Cryptocurrencies remain excluded from this initial phase, which is entirely denominated in dollars.
